கச்சா எண்ணெய் சுத்திகரிப்புக்கான லாபம் பேரலுக்கு 13 டாலரிலிருந்து 6 டாலராகக் குறைந்து விட்டதே இந்த லாப வீழ்ச்சிக்கு முக்கியக் காரணம் என்று கூறப்படுகிறது. ஆனால் கேஜி 6 படுகையில் கிடைக்கும் இயற்கை எரிவாயு காரணமாக பெரிய நஷ்டத்திலிருந்து இந்த நிறுவனம் தப்பியிருப்பகதாகக் கூறப்படுகிறது.

2009 செப்டம்பர் 30ம் தேதியுடன் முடிவடைந்த இரண்டாவது காலாண்டில் சன் டிவி குழுமத்தின் லாபம் ரூ. 130.36 கோடியைத் தொட்டுள்ளது.
இது கடந்த ஆண்டு இதே காலகட்டத்தில் ஈட்டப்பட்ட லாபத்தை விட 20 சதவீதம் அதிகமாகும்.
ஜூன் முதல் செப்டம்பர் வரையிலான காலகட்டத்தில் சன் டிவி குழுமத்தின் மொத்த வருவாய் ரூ. 320.39 கோடியாகும். இது கடந்த ஆண்டில் இதே காலகட்டத்தில் கிடைத்த வருவாயைவிட 34.69 சதவீதம் அதிகமாகும்.
சன் டிவி குழுமத்திடம் தமிழ், தெலுங்கு, மலையாளம், கன்னடத்தில் 21 சேட்டிலைட் சேனல்கள், 42 எப்எம் ரேடியா நிலையங்கள், தினகரன், தமிழ் முரசு ஆகிய செய்தித் தாள்கள், 4 வார இதழ்கள், டிடிஎச் தொலைக்காட்சி சேவை ஆகியவ உள்ளன.
15 இலக்க ரகசிய குறியீடு இல்லாத மொபைல் போன்களுக்கான இணைப்புகள் வரும் டிசம்பர் முதல் தேதியிலிருந்து துண்டிக்கப்படும் என இந்திய செல்லுலர் போன் சங்கம் தெரிவித்துள்ளது.
செல்போன்கள் திருட்டு போனால் அது யாரிடம் இருக்கிறது? என்பதைக் கண்டு பிடிக்க ஒரு சுலபமான வழி 'மொபைல் எக்விப்மெண்ட் ஐடெண்டிபைர்' (எம்.இ.ஐ.டி) எனப்படும் ரகசிய குறியீட்டு எண்கள்தான். மேலும் மொபைல் போன்களில் 'எலக்ட்ரானிக் சீரியல் நம்பர்'கள் (இ.எஸ்.என்) இருப்பதும் அவதியமாகும்.

இந்த ரகசிய எண்கள் இல்லாத செல்போன்களின் இணைப்புகளை துண்டிக்க வேண்டும் என்றும், தொலை தொடர்புத்துறை, இந்திய செலுலார் சங்கத்துக்கு தெரிவித்து உள்ளது.
இதன் படி ரகசிய குறியீடு எண் இல்லாத செல்போன்களின் இணைப்புகளை, டிசம்பர் 1-ந் தேதி முதல் துண்டித்து விட, இந்திய செலுலார் சங்கம் தனது ஆதரவை தெரிவித்து உள்ளது. இதன்படி இந்தியாவில் துண்டிக்கப்படும் செல்போன்களின் எண்ணிக்கை 2.5 கோடியாக இருக்கும் என்று கருதப்படுகிறது. இதுபற்றிய விழிப்புணர்வை மக்களிடம் ஏற்படுத்தவும் திட்டமிடப்பட்டு உள்ளது.

பின்னர் ஏதாவது ஒரு நிறுவனத்தின் பெயரை இதில் பயன்படுத்தினால் என்ன என்ற எண்ணம் தோன்றவே சிலரை அணுகினர். அதன்படி தொலைத் தொடர்பு நிறுவனமான எம்.சி.ஐ, வோல்வோ நிறுவனம், கிளப்மெட், 1-800 கலெக்ட், ஏடி அன்ட் டி, ஜிமா ஆகியவை விளம்பரம் தர முன் வந்தன..
இந்த ஆறு நிறுவனங்களின் பெயர்களையும் வைத்து பேனர் விளம்பரம் தயாரிக்கப்பட்டது. அப்போது இருந்த வெப் பிரவுசர் மொசைக் (பின்னர் நெட்ஸ்கேப் எக்ஸ்புளோரர் வந்து மொசைக்கை விரட்டி விட்டது).
மேலும், இப்போது போல பிராட்பேண்ட்டும் கிடையாது. டயல் அப் மட்டுமே. அதிகபட்ச வேகமே 24.4 கேபிபிஎஸ் தான். அமெரிக்காவில் இன்டர்நெட் வைத்திருந்தவர்கள் எண்ணிக்கை அப்போது 20 லட்சம்தான்.

Overweight women should avoid pregnancy until they lose weight as it leads to their children becoming obese, according to a new study.
The findings by researchers from medical centres in New York and Canada's Quebec city said an obese mother's womb may send a signal to their unborn baby that encourages them to grow into a fat child and adult.
The process is more than just passing along genes that promote obesity but the scientists said they are yet to track down a biological explanation for the signal, the Daily Mail reported.
DrJohnKral, who led the study, said his research suggests that obese women can help the coming generation by losing weight just before pregnancy.
Kral, along with researchers in Quebec, studied children of severely obese women who were born before or after their mother's weight-loss surgery.
In comparison to the kids born before surgery, those born afterwards were far less likely to be severely obese, the researchers found.
Besides, those born afterwards showed lower levels of blood fats and indicators of future diabetes.
The obesity in pregnancy raises the risk of complications like diabetes, caesarean deliveries and stillbirth, the experts pointed out.
NASA is set to blastoff a prototype rocket on Tuesday that carries hopes of returning humans to the Moon, and for the first time to Mars, despite deep uncertainty about the program's future.
The space agency said everything is in order for Tuesday's two-minute, 30-second test of the Ares I-X rocket, a first look at the launch vehicle designed to replace NASA's aging space shuttle fleet.
It is "an early opportunity to test and prove flight characteristics, hardware, facilities and ground operations associated with the Ares I," the space agency said.
Data will be collected from over 700 sensors spread across Ares I-X, providing a stream of information that will be scrutinised for months. But more rides on the launch than data.
It is the culmination of three years work on Constellation, a human space flight program conceived by former president George W Bush in the wake of the 2003 Columbia shuttle disaster that killed all seven crew onboard.
The program includes plans to create "Orion," the space shuttle's successor that by 2017 would carry astronauts into space in a bid to return to the moon and later make a first human trip to Mars.
But an independent panel of experts threw cold water over Constellation's starry-eyed aspirations in a report to US President Barack Obama on Thursday, warning that NASA needs three billion dollars a year more to meet its goals.
Genetically Modified (GM) Bt brinjal was 'safe' to human beings, animals and environment, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) said on Wednesday. The university has been involved in the research for the past six years.
The brinjal was safe to human and animal consumption. Moreover, it required less pesticide applications during cultivation, a TNAU release said.
It was free from pesticide residues and therefore were safe for human consumption, it said.
Noting that TNAU would approach Genetic Engineering Approval Committee (GEAC) for the formal release of these varieties pending the final decision of the Centre, it said adding, once approval was obtained, Bt brinjal varieties would be released by the university.
The seeds of Bt brinjal could also be stored for sowing for next season, since they were not hybrids, it said.
Brinjal was an important cash crop for poor and marginal farmers and in India it was cultivated in about 5,10,000 hectares, with an annual production of 8.2 million tonnes.
In Tamil Nadu, brinjal was cultivated in 7,676 hectares with an annual production of 82,049 metric tonnes, the release said.
The average productivity was around 10.69 metric tones per hectare and the crop was usually damaged by the insect fruit and shoot borer (FSB) it said.
At times, farmers lose even to the extent of 70 per cent of their produce due to insect attacks and traditional management strategies have proved to be ineffective and farmers, therefore, heavily relied on chemical pesticides to control pests.
Sometimes farmers used pesticides indiscriminately to ensure a good harvest, leading to harmful effects on the environment, health
of farmers and consumers, the release said.
Since no genotype resistant to FSB insect was available, 'well proven' Bt technology has been employed in brinjal cultivation to effectively manage the pest.
Bt brinjal has undergone rigorous bio safety tests before they were approved for commercial cultivation by GEAC and TNAU had developed brinjal varieties Co2-Bt MDU-Bt, KKM-1 and PLR1
Bt, the release said.

This can reduce the performance of your computer. Remove the dust particles with a cloth and below the rest of the particles away making sure that you don’t touch the components on the motherboard. Keeping your processor cool is very important.
9) When you install some programs they are automatically placed onto the startup programs list. You may find that after doing a lot of installs your computer may take a long time to startup. Go to the startup items list by going to “run” and typing “msconfig”.You’ll then get a list of the startup programs. Here you can uncheck any programs that you don’t need.
